Luis and I recently had the chance to visit Tulum, Mexico and wow was it paradise! We use to not be able to take vacations in the summer when Luis was in the MLS (major league soccer) since their season runs through summer, breaks are usually taken during winter time. Now, being in the mexican league, we are able to have a break in the summer so we took advantage and headed down to the beautiful Yucatan peninsula and it definitely did not disappoint.
We stayed at the beautiful Kore hotel in Tulum which was a quick 10 minute bike ride to the breath taking Tulum Ruins as well as some cute shops and restaurants. Renting the bikes were free so we took advantage on the days we wanted to stay nearby and explore the area.

Cenote Ik Kil was a short drive from Chichen Itza. There is a carved stairway that goes down to the swimming platform and vines that start from the opening above all the way to the water below. There are many Cenotes in the yucatan peninsula and this was one we were able to jump off the side, which was so fun! They had the Red Bull diving competition here back in 2014 and looking from the opening up top all the way down to the water looked terrifying to jump! Haha
The beach water was so clear and blue I could have just stared out into the ocean for ever <3.
If you have been thinking about going to cancun, stop thinking and go! We had some friends tell us Xcarat park was a must do while we were in the area and it definitely was a must do. The whole park is stunningly beautiful with a clear water river to swim through, wildlife where ever you turn, an amazing 2-hour show at night and so much more!
Chichen Itza is the world famous Mayan ruins and one of the seven wonders of the world. It was SO amazing to see and learn about the Mayans and their culture. Luis and I were so interested in how the mayans lived way back in the day, and in awe with the cities they built by hand! Now on our “to do before we die list” we would like to see the rest of the seven wonders of the world. 🙂
Overall, this trip was so wonderful and has made me want to explore more of Mexico’s beautiful places, I can’t wait until our next adventure!
